Over 60 and looking to date online?
Spilling the beans on dud dates does neither party a good turn.
Another kiss-and-tell book. One more woman slagging off the men she's
met, kissed and shagged during online dating. Blue Mountains resident
Carole Lethbridge was a 65-year-old veteran of four marriages when she
decided to try her luck at internet dating. Her new book, Online Dating After Sixty, carries the subtitle “One woman's journey of love, lust and losers".
That says it all.
Lethbridge met a bunch of men online including some she
admits were pleasant and intelligent but lacked her required
"chemistry". Yet she dismisses them all as losers. Not just losers but
"tragics, duds and dickheads" to use one of her colourful descriptions.
It's quite astonishing how many writers, particularly women, are willing
to exploit the vulnerabilities of genuine online daters for the purpose
of spinning a good yarn. Yes, the online dating scene does include
players and users but most participants are ordinary men and women who
find the whole process daunting enough without people sending them up by
writing about their foibles.
